Cops Record Aziz Bari S Statement Over Alleged Remarks On Agong Emergency

Perak opposition leader Abdul Aziz Bari claimed that some quarters had manipulated his statements concerning the king and the proclamation of emergency.
Aziz told Malaysiakini that a police team from Bukit Aman police headquarters came from Kuala Lumpur to record his statement at Lahat police station in the state this afternoon.
This came after an unknown party filed a report against him over a statement he made during a Facebook live recently.
"The issue was on Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the emergency.
"Apparently, the matter central to the report made was produced by an unknown party, manipulating my statements and taking them out of context," he said.
Aziz added that someone had produced a video clip and incorporated his purported statements with an offensive heading about the king.
He believed that the intention behind the clip was to paint a bad light on DAP and produced by political cybertroopers.
It is not immediately known under what section Aziz was probed.
Aziz only noted that he was called by the police under Section 112 of the Criminal Procedure Code, which provides the power to the police to record statements from witnesses.
On Jan 12, Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah had consented to a Declaration of Emergency Proclamation to curb the growing number of Covid-19 cases after being advised by Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.
The emergency is in effect up until August this year. During this time, parliament and assembly sittings are suspended.
However, in a statement today, the king expressed his view that the parliament sitting can convene on a date deemed suitable by the ruler on the advice of the prime minister. - Mkini
