(Bernama pic)PETALING JAYA: A police officer told the sessions court today that he was informed about the discovery of a pistol inside a black backpack during a raid on a house in Kampung Bukit Belimbing, Kuala Selangor, on March 29 last year
Wan Ibrahim Rosli, the raiding officer from the Selangor contingent police headquarters, said he was notified by his superior officer, Khairulazizi Ismail, about the discovery after an inspection was carried out in the boot of a white Honda Jazz parked outside the house, Bernama reported.
Earlier, Wan Ibrahim, 34, said he and a team from Bukit Aman CID’s D9 unit, led by Khairulazizi, were instructed to arrest a man, Abdul Azim Yasin, 44, who is the husband of the accused, Sharifah Faraha Syed Husin, 42, in Kuala Selangor.
Following the arrest, Azim led them to a house in the same district for further inspection. Sharifah Faraha followed behind in the Honda Jazz driven by a police officer.
Upon arrival, he said he entered the house with Azim to question him on a case investigated by the Dang Wangi district police headquarters. In the meantime, Khairulazizi, with Sharifah Faraha, inspected the Honda Jazz.
“At first, I wasn’t involved in the inspection. However, after the discovery of the pistol, I went to look at the car and the evidence found inside one of the zippers of a black bag in the car boot,” he said.
Wan Ibrahim said this when responding to deputy public prosecutor Nor Hakimi Rosedin on the fourth day of the trial of Sharifah Faraha, who is accused of possessing a pistol believed to have been supplied to an Israeli national, before judge Nurul Mardhiah Redza.
Sharifah Faraha was represented by lawyer Radzuan Ibrahim.
On April 8 last year, Sharifah Faraha had pleaded not guilty to possessing a Luger pistol at a house in Kampung Bukit Belimbing, Kuala Selangor, at 8pm on March 29, 2024.
The charge, framed under Section 8 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971, carries a maximum 14-year jail term and not less than six strokes of the cane upon conviction.
On June 5, 2025, her husband, Azim, was sentenced to 10 years in prison and six strokes of the cane by the same court after pleading guilty to a charge of being with Sharifah Faraha under circumstances that gave reasonable grounds to believe he knew she was in possession of the firearm.
