Conditional Mco Applies To Klang Sub District Only Says Ismail Sabri
COVID-19 | The conditional movement control order (MCO) that will be implemented in Klang effective tomorrow (Oct 9) applies only to the area within the sub-district and not other areas such as Port Klang and Kapar, said Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
Speaking from his home in a digital press conference on Facebook live, Ismail said this following a discussion with Health Minister Dr Adham Baba and Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari.
"The (conditional) MCO will apply only to the Klang sub-district, and would not include Kapar. Despite this, we are always in touch with the Selangor NSC (National Security Council) should there be any changes," he added.
The Klang sub-district is one of two sub-districts (the other being the Kapar subdistrict) that makes up the Klang district.Ismail referred to a statement by International Trade and Industry Minister Azmin Ali that the NSC would allow all economic sectors in the Klang district to continue operating as usual with strict adherence to the standard operating procedures.
Ismail went on to say that Port Klang would also not be impacted by the conditional MCO.
He said that to ensure economic activity and supply of goods are not affected, the meeting also agreed to allow economic activities to operate as follows:
Wholesale market from 4am to 2pmRegular market from 6am to 2pmFarmers' market from 6am to noonHowever, night market operations are not allowed, he added.
Restaurants and food stalls can also be opened but are limited from 6am to 10pm and only for purchase by drive-through, delivery and take-away.
Public transport such as buses and taxis, including e-hailing services, are allowed to operate between 6am and midnight.
Earlier, Amirudin had said that the Selangor government will conduct targeted screening for Covid-19 cases in red zones as a further measure to control the spread of the pandemic.
Apart from Klang, the federal government had also imposed a conditional MCO in the areas classified as red zones in Sandakan, Papar, and Tuaran in Sabah, starting on the same date, following the increase in Covid-19 cases in these areas. - Mkini
