Chegubard Hits Out At Bersatu Bosses Over Lack Of Support In Court Cases
A Bersatu grassroots leader has slammed certain leaders in his own party for denigrating him even as he faced legal troubles for criticising the government.
Badrul Hisham Shaharin, known as Chegubard, from Negeri Sembilan, says the party has not even helped him pay for the costs of his court cases.
He said this in a Facebook post today while also announcing that he had been acquitted of a charge of making defamatory remarks about the king.
Badrul is the latest grassroots leader to have openly criticised the party’s senior leadership in recent days amid fallout from a disciplinary board decision against six of its division chiefs, including two MPs.
ADS“Because I was involved in these cases and because I talk about the people’s issues, I was denigrated by leaders from Bersatu itself,” Badrul wrote.

He accused one party official of calling him “a brainless person who goes in and out of jail frequently”.
“I was bailed out, and I continued to fight my cases with contributions from the public.
“If the party does not want to help me, don’t put me down. I have been called by one of the president’s apple-polishers a QR beggar,” he wrote.
On his court case today, Badrul said he was acquitted of the charge related to a rally in front of the National Palace that he attended in January last year.
“Thank you to the Sessions Court judge for her brave ruling. Thank you to my lawyer Rafique Rashid Ali and his team. And thank you to all of those who prayed for and supported me”.
Mounting tensions
Badrul’s criticism came on the same day as Bersatu’s Ampang division withdrew support for party president Muhyiddin Yassin.
Ampang Bersatu’s withdrawal came amidst mounting internal tensions within Bersatu, following reports that several leaders and divisions have been dissatisfied with the party’s leadership.
At the party’s annual general assembly this year, several delegates had openly called for Muhyiddin to resign, causing a stir.

Machang MP Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal, who had been suspended from the party, had previously described Muhyiddin as “no longer relevant” following Bersatu’s poor performance in several state elections.
The party’s Indera Mahkota MP, Saifuddin Abdullah, also urged Muhyiddin to resign, alleging that the former prime minister had lost the leadership qualities he once possessed. Saifuddin has since been removed as Pahang Perikatan Nasional liaison chief.
Saifuddin had claimed that the PN chief and Pagoh MP no longer displayed leadership based on civility, knowledge, and skill, as he did when the party was first founded. - Mkini
