Police Detain 5th Suspect Over Brutal Murder Of Saleswoman

Police officers on the scene where ther remains of the victim was discovered in Jalan Anggerik, Seri Kembangan.KUALA LUMPUR: Police arrested a fifth suspect in connection with the murder of a woman whose nude body, with her hands bound, was discovered near the Blue Water Estate roundabout in Seri Kembangan, Selangor, recently.
Serdang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Muhamad Farid Ahmad said the latest arrest involved a local man, bringing the total number of suspects detained to five.
He added that the fifth suspect had been remanded for five days until Nov 10 to assist investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
"Three male suspects were previously remanded for five days during the initial round, and subsequently for an additional three days in the second remand, which concludes tomorrow (Nov 7).
"The fourth suspect, a woman, was initially remanded for five days, followed by another three days in the second remand, which ends this Saturday," he said in a statement today.
The three male suspects, aged between 24 and 30, include the victim's ex-boyfriend and her adoptive brother. The fourth suspect, a woman in her 30s, is the victim's housemate at their home in Taman Castlefield, Cheras.
Muhamad Farid said that the post-mortem report to determine the exact cause of death had not yet been released, pending laboratory analysis.
He added that investigations were ongoing to ascertain the motive behind the murder.
The victim, a 24-year-old saleswoman employed at a supermarket in Ampang and a convenience store in Bukit Bintang, was discovered by a passer-by at 3.45pm on Oct 29 after detecting a foul odour along Jalan Anggerik, Seri Kembangan. - NST
