KUANTAN: Petty traders and officials of local authorities in Pahang have been urged by the Sultan of Pahang to carry out duties in a responsible manner.
Al-Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah also urged traders in Pahang to have licences and comply with the laws, whereas enforcement officers should act prudently in all their actions and exercise discretion without causing any damage or injury.
In a posting on the Pahang royalty Facebook page, the sultan urged traders to adhere to procedures, including the need to apply for a business licence or permit, in their rush for Aidilfitri sales.
“Local authorities must also provide specific and safe places for all parties,” the sultan said. Problems that arise should be resolved in the most appropriate manner without involving any commotion, let alone injuries.
The sultan’s advice came after a balloon vendor, Zaimuddin Azlan, was involved in an altercation in Kuala Lumpur with City Hall enforcement officers on Friday.
Zaimuddin, who is known as “Abang Belon”, is from Jerantut in Pahang. He is receiving treatment at Serdang hospital in Selangor for injuries sustained in the incident.
He received a visit this afternoon from the sultan’s younger son, Tengku Arif Bendahara Tengku Iskandar Ri’ayatuddin Shah, who conveyed a personal gift from the sultan.
Separately, Pahang menteri besar Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail acknowledged that the individuals involved in the recent incident were born in Pahang.
He said he had requested the secretariat of Perantau Anak Pahang to assess and provide appropriate assistance according to the needs of the individuals involved. - FMT
