Najib Abdul Razak's daughter has poked fun at police's plan to set up roadblocks in Putrajaya to hamper a rally in solidarity with the former premier tomorrow.
Nooryana Najwa Najib said it was especially surprising that this was happening under the Madani government.
'(Protest roadblocks) in the era of 'reformasi'? Can you get through if you're wearing a Bersih t-shirt?" she said in an Instagram story this evening.
Police announced today that they would be setting up roadblocks to prevent people from joining tomorrow's rally - which is being headed by PAS.
One of the last times police notably set up roadblocks to hamper a rally was in 2011 during the Bersih 2.0 protest - when Najib was prime minister.
Anwar Ibrahim, who is now helming the government, was among those who participated in the Bersih 2.0 protest.
Tomorrow’s rally outside the Palace of Justice is in conjunction with the Court of Appeal hearing Najib's bid to enforce a purported royal addendum granting him house arrest.
Umno pulls out but PAS steadfast
Originally, PAS was to join Umno in rallying to support Najib.
However, after Istana Negara on Friday affirmed that bids for clemency must go through the Pardons Board, Umno decided not to proceed with the protest.
PAS will still be demonstrating, with some Umno leaders expected to be present.
Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, however, warned that party members who attend the rally will do so at their own risk.
After news of Zahid's remarks was published, Umno Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh - who is planning to join the PAS rally in his personal capacity - posted a tongue-in-cheek photo of him taking a jog this evening past the Palace of Justice.
