Babysitter Arrested Over Death Of 4 Month Old Baby At Nursery

Kuala Langat district police chief Akmalrizal Radzi said police found that the nursery caregiver allegedly left the victim unmonitored for a long period of time.
PETALING JAYA: Police have arrested a babysitter at a childcare centre over her alleged involvement in the death of a four-month-old baby boy on Jan 3.
Kuala Langat district police chief Akmalrizal Radzi said the woman, who is in her 30s, was released on police bail after her statement was recorded, Bernama reported.
“We are now waiting for instructions from the deputy public prosecutor for further action,” he was quoted as saying.
Yesterday, Akmalrizal said police were still waiting for the results of a laboratory report, and that the investigation into the baby’s death is ongoing.
“(Police have found) elements of negligence and neglect by the babysitter, who (allegedly) left the victim unmonitored for a long period of time.
“Police have taken statements from six people, including the suspect,” he said, according to Harian Metro.
Previously, Akmalrizal had said that police received a report on Jan 3 about an infant who was brought in unconscious to a clinic in Bandar Saujana Putra by a nursery’s babysitter.
“The baby was pale with bluish lips and feet and showed no signs of breathing. The complainant, a doctor at the clinic, immediately performed CPR and provided oxygen while waiting for an ambulance to take the baby to Putrajaya Hospital.
“The hospital received the baby at about 4.35pm and continued CPR for over 30 minutes, but there was no response. The baby was pronounced dead at 5.05pm,” he was reported as saying.
The Selangor social welfare department ordered the nursery’s closure after being informed of the incident by police on Jan 5.
Selangor social welfare department director Azmir Kassim was reported to have said that his department went to the nursery on Jan 6 and ordered it to cease operations. - FMT
