Annuar Musa Confirms Pas Application

Former Umno secretary-general Annuar Musa confirmed that he has submitted an application to join long-time rival, PAS.
He said the membership application form to join the party was sent a few months ago and has not yet been approved by PAS.
“Not just 10 people but more than 1,000 are together with me on this. We are only now waiting (for a decision) from the PAS leadership.
“I confirm that I have applied (to join) PAS, it is up to PAS to accept me or not.
“The decision I made (to apply to join PAS) was after I closely and deeply examined the national political scenario and also the situation in Umno itself,” the former Ketereh MP said when met at the Muafakat Nasional Aidilfitri open house in the nation’s capital today.
Two days ago, the media reported that PN was expected to announce the admission of Annuar and more than 10 former Umno leaders to join the party.
PN Deputy Secretary-General Takiyuddin HassanPN Deputy Secretary-General Takiyuddin Hassan also said former Umno Youth leader Khairy Jamaluddin was seen as showing interest in joining Bersatu.
He claimed this announcement of new PAS members is expected to be made at the end of this month.
“I confirmed that the application forms of some of the big figures are ready and we are waiting for the time to make the announcement which is expected to be done at the end of this month,” said Takiyuddin.
‘Continue the struggle’
Meanwhile, Annuar, who is also the chairperson of the Muafakat Nasional NGO, said his decision to join PAS was not because he wanted to be a candidate in the upcoming state elections.
“As a party member, to be selected to contest is not our right. When we become a member of a party we have to relax. Don’t set the goal of becoming a candidate.
“If the party chooses and it is destined to be like that... take responsibility. Even if you don’t become a candidate, continue the struggle,” he said.
Meanwhile, Annuar said he did not apply to rejoin Umno which he described as totally broken.
He said PAS is the right choice for him to continue the unification of the Malay-Muslim community that had been initiated before. - Mkini
