Apad Revokes Lorry Firm S Licence After Fatal Kajang Toll Plaza Crash

The Land Public Transport Agency says LDT Metal Trading failed to install GPS on its licensed commercial vehicle and neglected the safety of other road users.

Apad said the revocation of LDT Metal Trading’s licence took effect today after investigators found that the firm had failed to install a GPS tracking system on its licensed commercial vehicle and had neglected the safety of other road users.
“With the revocation of the operator’s licence, the company is no longer permitted to operate or provide any services using vehicles previously licensed under that licence,” it said in a statement today.
Apad added that it would not compromise on dangerous driving offences involving commercial transport vehicles which could lead to accidents and put lives at risk.
It also reminded licensed operators to comply with their licence conditions to avoid similar action.
The Sept 27 crash involved a lorry, two SUVs and a car, leaving the child dead and eight others injured.
The 42-year-old lorry driver said he jumped out of the vehicle as its brakes had failed.
Kajang police chief Naazron Abdul Yusof said the driver had a record of three drug- and crime-related cases, as well as four traffic summonses in 2013 and 2016. However, his urine test came back negative for drugs and alcohol. - FMT
