Albert Questions Pm S Swift Response To Kitingan Clip Revives Blackmail Claim
Businessperson Albert Tei has questioned Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s swift response to his latest video revelation implicating Sabah Deputy Chief Minister and Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (Star) president Jeffrey Kitingan.
He said the premier’s reaction was “drastically different” compared to when he exposed earlier videos and alleged evidence of corruption involving nine other Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) leaders since last November.
Those implicated included eight assemblypersons and state assembly speaker Kadzim Yahya. Two of them, along with Tei himself, have since been charged, but the fate of the rest, including senior cabinet members, remains unclear.
“What has Anwar done in the past year? He seemed to close his eyes and pretend not to take action against the remaining six assemblypersons and the speaker,” said Tei in a statement this morning.
“I want to ask Anwar: is it because the target this time is Jeffrey Kitingan, who has always been at odds with him, that he suddenly became interested and concerned about the corruption allegations?
“I wish to tell Anwar - do not ride on my revelations as a bargaining chip or a tool of political blackmail to serve your political agenda in Sabah,” he added.
Tei reminded that just last month in Parliament, Anwar had dismissed his allegations against the six assemblypersons as hearsay.
“Anwar insulted and belittled my allegations as mere hearsay. His conduct was irresponsible and constitutes a great betrayal.
“So I am shocked and puzzled as to why Anwar acted so swiftly when it came to my revelations involving Kitingan…,” he added.
Claim rebutted
Tei previously rebutted Anwar’s parliamentary claim that only videos were handed to the MACC, stressing that he submitted a dossier exceeding 300 pages detailing money trails, bank records, documents, written correspondences, and specific locations.

Sabah CM Hajiji NoorEarlier this month, the businessperson declared he would take “extraordinary measures” to pursue justice and warned political leaders not to use his revelations as tools for blackmail or bargaining chips.
In today’s statement, Tei said he was amused to see Sabah Chief Minister and GRS leader Hajiji Noor - whose assemblypersons are implicated in what he called the state’s “biggest corruption scandal” - sitting next to Anwar when the prime minister raised the matter.
Tei was responding to Anwar’s speech in Sabah yesterday, where the prime minister vowed not to forgive acts of corruption.
Anwar also noted that the MACC had acted on “fresh news” of Sabah leaders facing allegations.
While he did not name names, Anwar appeared to be alluding to Kitingan, who was recently questioned by the MACC following Tei’s claim that he received RM1.78 million. - Mkini
