Akmal Dap Disability Row Descends Into Animal Name Calling
Amid claims from DAP Youth and other quarters accusing Dr Akmal Saleh of insulting disabled persons, the Umno Youth chief appears unwilling to let the matter rest, instead again taking to Facebook to lash out at another critic.
Doubling down on his innocence, Akmal took aim at a post seemingly uploaded by DAP’s former Selangor state assemblyperson Teng Chang Khim, who allegedly called Akmal a “guy behaving like a stray dog”.
The post, which appears to have been deleted from Teng’s Facebook feed, featured a Malaysiakini article on Akmal’s claim that his earlier Facebook post saying DAP Youth leaders should be given a disabled person card was aimed at the wing and not the community.
Sharing a screenshot of Teng’s supposed post, Akmal said: “This is the behaviour of their leaders… It’s not just the young ones who are stupid; turns out the senior leaders are stupid too.
“When we defend the Malaysian flag symbol and they have no more issues left to stand for, they end up accusing us of being stray dogs instead. (This is) exactly the same behaviour as wild boars,” Akmal added.
In a sarcastic jab, he also suggested that his detractors might soon kick up a fuss about him insulting wild boars.

Teng Chang KhimYesterday, DAP Youth organising secretary Lim Zheng Han called for Akmal’s resignation as a Malacca state exco after the latter suggested that disabled person cards be given to DAP Youth, and mocked the party’s youth wing for allegedly not understanding Bahasa Malaysia.
Alleging that Akmal equated DAP Youth and disabled persons with stupidity, and that he used the “disabled” label to insult political opponents, Lim said Akmal’s statements not only demonstrated his “profound contempt for disabled persons,” but also clearly showed his leadership style was weak and immature.
The war of words first erupted after DAP Youth criticised Akmal for repeatedly harping on an upside-down national flag flown at a Chinese school in Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan.
Akmal had urged stern action against those responsible and for authorities to investigate Lukut assemblyperson Choo Ken Hwa’s claim that the incident was due to an error by a special needs worker.
Stressing that the national flag must be honoured, not desecrated, Akmal decried what he described as a recurring pattern of offence followed by remorse. - Mkini
