A Radical Speech Police Urged To Probe Muhyiddin S Haram Decree

JOHOR BY-ELECTIONS | An Amanah Youth leader has lodged a police report over Perikatan Nasional chairperson Muhyiddin Yassin's remarks targeting Pakatan Harapan Pulai candidate Suhaizan Kaiat.
Pulai Amanah Youth chief Mohd Harith Hambali said Muhyiddin's remark at a ceramah in Kempas on Saturday that it is "haram" to vote for Suhaizan had ill intentions and has potential to sow division among the people.
"It is a radical speech and something which should not have happened in Pulai.
"What was said is also something that can mislead voters," Mohd Harith told reporters after lodging his report at Tampoi police station, Johor Baru.
Pulai Amanah Youth chief Mohd Harith HambaliIn his report that was shared with the media, Mohd Harith urged police to investigate Muhyiddin under the Penal Code, Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 as well as the Johor Shariah Enactment.
Mohd Harith was accompanied by other local Youth leaders including Pulai Umno Youth chief Syed Mohd Hafiz Syed Hassan, Johor Harapan Youth chief Taqiuddin Che Man and Amanah Youth exco chief Fadhli Umar Aminolhuda.
Fadhli Umar said investigations under the Johor Shariah Enactment pertain to the alleged offence of going against the powers of the state fatwa council to issue any decrees.
"We hope that issues such as these, encroaching into powers of the state fatwa council, will not happen again with any politicians.
"At the state machinery level, we will continue to monitor 3R (race, religion, royalty) issues played up by PN," he said.
In a video of Muhyiddin's speech on the campaign trail for PN Pulai candidate Zulkifli Jaafar, gathered supporters were heard laughing at his "haram" decree against Suhaizan.
Regardless, the Amanah lawyer said the issue of issuing decrees is not something which should have been taken lightly, as it also involves the role of state rulers and the fatwa council.
"Even if the matter was said as joke, is it actually something appropriate to joke about?" asked Fadhli Umar.
Yesterday, Suhaizan said it was "inappropriate" for Muhyiddin to make such a claim that borders on making light of Allah’s decrees.
Various Umno and Harapan leaders have since also come to Suhaizan's defence, while Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim urged voters to put an end to divisive politics. - Mkini
