A Kuantan Mum S Desperate Wait For Her Missing 40 Year Old Son Nears Seven Years

The 67-year-old has struggled to find out what happened to Chin Kim Choy since he returned to Singapore in 2017.
Chang has been trying to locate Chin, 40, through her two other sons who work in Singapore but decided to lodge a missing person report in the republic in July last year, fearing her son might have fallen victim to a job scam syndicate elsewhere.
The mother-of-four is now hoping to be reunited with Chin, whom had last returned during Chinese New Year celebration at their house at Jalan Wong Ah Jang here in 2017.
Chang was unable to hold back tears as she made a heartfelt appeal to the public to help find her youngest son whom she fondly called Ah Choy and urged those with information to immediately get in touch with the family.
"Ah Choy(Chin) was the youngest in the family and left to work as a restaurant helper in Singapore in 2007. He used to come back to visit me in Kuantan and I even went to Singapore once to meet him.
"Besides Chin, I have two other children working in Singapore and I went for a short vacation to visit them. We last met when he returned for Chinese New Year in 2017 and there has been no news since then.
"My two other sons have gone around Singapore looking for him.....Ah Choy is no longer working at the restaurant. They continued searching for him after the lockdown(Covid-19) before my sons told me to lodge a police report last year," she said before wiping away her tears.
Meanwhile, Chang said her son did not have a permanent mobile phone number and would call her using different number each time he crossed the border to Johor.
"He will usually buy a new phone SIM card and call me. There were occasions when he would call after a long time saying he forgot my mobile number but at least he remembered to call me.
"After I lodged the police report last year, the Singapore authorities told me that investigations revealed that he has not left the country but I am worried about the job scam syndicates and if he had been tricked by them," she said when met at Semambu assemblyman Chan Chun Kuang's service centre here today.
Chang said she along with other family members had tried to track him through social media but all his accounts was deactivated.
As she held a photograph if her missing son, Chang made an emotional plea asking the public to share the news and those with information to contact her at 016-6263125.
Meanwhile, Chan said he is working closely with Malaysia International Humanitarian Organisation public relations officer Daniel Khoo, who was present at the press conference, to assist Chang to track down her son. - NST
