4 Men Jailed 16 Years Each For Gang Raping Girl 12
Three of the men will begin their jail sentence today, and the fourth from the date of his arrest in October 2020. (Freepik pic)PETALING JAYA: Four men were sentenced to 16 years jail each by the Kuala Terengganu sessions court today for gang-raping a 12-year-old girl three years ago.
Judge Nooriah Osman handed down the sentence to Farizal Fauzi, 20, Tuan Shafiq Tuan Ismail, 24, Ghardafi Abdullah, 23, and Ahmad Syah Herfudin Omar, 26, who were found guilty, Harian Metro reported.
The four were accused of raping the girl at an oil palm plantation in Dungun between 9pm and 11pm on Sept 29, 2020.
The charge was read under Section 375B of the Penal Code, which provides for between 10 to 30 years imprisonment if found guilty.
The court ordered the sentence against three of the men to start from the date of sentencing today, while Ahmad will serve his sentence from the date of his arrest on Oct 11, 2020.
The prosecution was led by deputy public prosecutor Nur Nabihah Hanin Ayim, while the accused were represented by Wan Syahrizal Wan Ladin and Shahir Mat Jusoh.
The media had previously reported that five men were arrested on suspicion of raping the Year 6 pupil.
The victim said she had been taken by two of the suspects, one of whom she knew, to an oil palm plantation before being raped.
Three other men later arrived and joined in the rape.
Four of the men were ordered to enter their defence on Feb 5, while the fifth, a 19-year-old, was freed from the charge. - FMT
