1 9 Million Vehicles Expected To Use Nse During Hari Raya Aidiladha Festive Period
Estimated 1.9 million vehicles are expected to travel via the North-South Expressway throughout the Hari Raya Aidiladha period until July 12. - BERNAMA PICKUALA LUMPUR: Starting tomorrow, some 1.9 million vehicles are expected to travel via the North-South Expressway throughout the Hari Raya Aidiladha period until July 12.
Plus Malaysia Bhd chief operating officer Datuk Zakaria Ahmad Zabidi said the rise in the number of vehicles was expected to cause congestions and prolong travel time for road users.
He advised highway users to adhere to the Travel Time Advisory (TTA) issued by Plus to plan their journeys and make preparations before hitting the road.
"The TTA is designed based on historical traffic data to guide and enable highway users to experience a manageable journey during this festive period.
"Its purpose is to distribute traffic and circumvent the convergence of traffic as vehicles enter the highway at the same time on major highway stretches, toll plazas and rest areas, thus reducing congestion," he said in a statement today.
Zakaria advised highway users from the Klang Valley heading towards destinations such as Perlis, Kedah, Penang, Perak and Johor between July 7 and July 10 to enter the highway before 10am.

Meanwhile, highway users heading towards closer destinations or to other states are advised to enter the highway after 1pm.
For highway users returning to the Klang Valley from the northern states and Johor between July 10 and July 12, Zakaria advised them to enter the highway before 9am.
"Based on our studies of the return journey to Klang Valley, highway users can expect an extension of up to twice as long as the average travel time on the highway if they choose not to adhere to the TTA schedule," he said.
