Zahid Time For Bn To Amend Constitution Purge Enemies From Within
BN chairperson Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has urged the coalition to amend its “outdated” constitution and remove a clause that gives veto power to component parties on applications by new members.
“It is a constitution that is outdated and needs to be changed,” said the embattled Umno leader to delegates at the annual general assembly of the fringe Makkal Sakti Party.
According to a report by Free Malaysia Today, Zahid lamented that there were eight parties deemed “friends of BN” but unable to join fully.
“Seven more parties have also applied to join the coalition," he said, adding that his predecessor Najib Abdul Razak was forced to take on too much responsibility.
“We must now ensure that BN makes collective decisions to ensure collective accountability.
“I don’t want what happened to Najib to happen to me,” he said in urging the coalition to carry out a three-pronged strategy, to create chemistry, develop understanding and aim for collaboration.
Zahid is on trial over 47 counts of criminal breach of trust (CBT), bribery and money laundering linked to tens of millions in funds from Yayasan Akalbudi.

“You don’t have to ask, we will give you a seat that we think you will win,” Zahid said in reply to a request from Makkal Sakti president R S Thanenthiran for his party to be allowed to contest in GE15.
He added that there needed to be a “cleansing from within” the party mechanism, to do what was best for both Umno and BN. - Mkini
