Zahid S Amok Is Not An Amok At All

'THE Malays would run amok' if ICERD is ratified by our government. Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi uttered that stinging remark at the Himpunan Ummah in Pasir Salak last Saturday.

Dr Mahathir, some non-Malays, DAP and 'misunderstanding' NGOs were fast to digest it as a threating statement that the Malays would create a-la May 13 communal riot. There was even suggestion that should it take place, Zahid will be held responsible.

The Malays to run amok?

No laaarrr.... what Zahid meant was dissatisfaction among the Malays should ICERD is ratified. Who wants to start a chaos and disrupt the peace and stability? They have families too!

It was just a strong expression. Its similar when someone angry warns you that he might 'blow your head away'. Or when your wife threatens to chop off your 'thing' if you have another woman.

Expression is just another punchy element in speech, an impactful one. Only unlevel-headed persons will take it seriously.

The police is also helping to blow it out of proportion. Home Minister Muhyiddin Yassin issued a warning that any anti-ICERD demo must get necessary permits from the police and related authorities.

The notorious Bersih rally few years went without proper permit but the government just allowed it. So, what's the fuss all about?

What Zahid was trying to say (maybe) was dont test the Malays. Dont take their patience for granted. Without ICERD, the Indians, the Chinese and people of Sabah and Sarawak were well taken of by BN government.

Himpunan Ummah plans another demo on Dec 8. Just let them as long as no blood is shed and no public properties are ransacked.

Don't digest what Zahid said wrongly. If you do, it would certainly invite wrong perception... and wrong outcome!
