Zahid Number Of Party Flags Doesn T Reflect Support
GE15 | The number of flags or banners installed during the first four days of the 15th general election campaign so far does not reflect support for any party in a certain area, said Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
According to Utusan Malaysia, he said that such flags and banners were mostly installed by hired workers, not party supporters or members.
"The flags are installed by hired workers, during the day they wear BN shirts, in the afternoon they wear Pakatan Harapan shirts, at night they wear PN (Perikatan Nasional) shirts. The same people.
"So, don't use the number of flags as a benchmark of support, because the flags are installed by hired workers," he said at a press conference in Bagan Datuk.
Umno president Ahmad Zahid HamidiZahid was asked to comment on the “flag war”, especially in Bagan Datuk, which saw many PN and Harapan flags going up in many places.
It is understood that in some areas in Perak, there are also more PN flags installed in more visible places than there are BN flags.
The Umno president insisted that in Bagan Datuk, his party will “flood” the area with BN flags, signs, banners and posters in the next few days as a sign that the party has the support of the local people.
"It's because those competing against me are candidates from outside Bagan Datuk and outside Perak.
"The people of Bagan Datuk, especially the voters, want local people who know their tastes and needs, especially in terms of development," he said.
Zahid, who has been MP for the area since 1995, will be defending his seat against Harapan's Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin, PN's Muhammad Faiz Na'aman and independent Tawfik Ismail, the son of former deputy prime minister Dr Ismail Abdul Rahman. - Mkini
