Zahid Leads Bn Members In Support Of Ge15 To Be Held As Soon As Possible

BN chairperson Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has rallied some 4,000 delegates at its 48th national convention today in pledging support for the next 15th general election to be held as soon as possible.
BN members who gathered at Dewan Merdeka stood up and cheered in response to Zahid's questions, "Who wants to see the general election happen this year? Who wants to see the general election happen soon?
"If we want a general election, I want to see how many will stand. PM, we trust you! Do it as soon as possible!
"PM we are ready to face GE15!" said Zahid in his speech.
The Umno president, however, was quick to add that the final decision on a date should be left for discussion with Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
"Allow me to discuss with the prime minister.
"The prime minister has said he would be discussing with the ‘Top 5'," said Zahid in reference to himself, Umno deputy president Mohamad Hassan and three vice-presidents.
Zahid said four years have passed since GE14, and so GE15 can be called at any time from today.
He also said BN is ready to face GE15, urging all component parties to embrace the principle that they are contesting under one BN banner.
"BN cannot be caught off guard. All preparations to face the election must already be at the highest level.
"And I really hope all BN components must be more involved in technical matters concerning the election. We must work and be ready to win," he said.
BN's preparations for GE15 and calls for early election were matters widely addressed by top party leaders in their speeches to over 4,000 component members from Umno, MCA, MIC and Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah, as well as Friends of BN at Dewan Merdeka, PWTC.
Earlier, former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak, who is also BN adviser, hinted that the current state of inflation or self-interest should not be used as reasons to delay GE15.- Mkini
