Zahid Can Get Thru What About Najib
ATTENTION is on KL High Court again. Zahid Hamidi's case resumes today while Bossku (Najib Razak) is either be acquitted or called up for self-defense tomorrow over charges of misappropriating RM42 million in SRC International funds.
Malaysians and likely the world over will be waiting with bated breath for Tuesday, July 28, 2020. It is going to be a momentous day in the annals of Malaysian judicial history as the court will be delivering its verdict on a former prime minister.
All eyes will be on High Court Judge Mohd Nazlan Mohd Ghazali on Tuesday as he will decide on the case against Najib, whose 67th birthday was last Thursday. The verdict is expected to be delivered at about 10 am.
Najib is facing three counts of criminal breach of trust (CBT), three charges of money laundering and one count of abuse of position in relation to the SRC funds. SRC is a former subsidiary of 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) and now placed under the Finance Ministry. There were conflicting reports on Najib's case. Some said the verdict will be guilty (most of it came from pro-Pakatan Harapan media) while the rest gave an 'escape' prophecy about his acquittal.Let's wait for tomorrow. However, I still center on the UMNO president's case. Hope it will end soon as Zahid gotta attend many party assignments, particularly the divisional delegates conference. He also must find fast solution in strengthening the Muafakat Nasional with PAS and the party's cooperation with MCA and MIC in Barisan Nasional. As all the prosecution witness are siding him, we maybe have to wait for a couple of months before the 'queen witness' testifies in court. This will be the most interesting part.
The trial of the former Deputy Prime Minister who is facing 47 charges involving millions of ringgit of Yayasan Akalbudi funds, is also drawing more interest as 'friends' who disappeared for two years after BN defeat in GE14, were coming back. The case before judge Collin Lawrence Sequerah has all the while been listening to prosecution witnesses who admitted that whatever money channeled to Akalbudi was for charity. This is a classic 'selective political persecution' imposed by former PM Dr Mahathir on a party president.I just wonder how many more mosques and surau Zahid and his family have to build before their critics believe that the Yayasan money was used sincerely for religious purposes. How many tahfiz and orphanage centers are required before they can swallow the fact that Yayasan Akalbudi is taking care of the unfortunates more than that of the government and other politicians who dragged him into this predicament! And I wonder how the MACC can make belief that Akalbudi funds belonged to Zahid's family, and that they have went through all the thick and thin to help the poor, not only in Malaysia but in some countries?I can't wait, really...By the way, what will be the atmosphere should Najib gets acquitted, and the otherwise? Some predicted that some UMNO Member of Parliaments who are his ardent supporters will withdraw from the Perikatan Nasional government led by Muhyiddin since the PM was seen to 'not helping' him at all!!Many possibilities...
