Whistleblower To Lodge Macc Report Against Arifin
The whistleblower who exposed the mineral licence graft scandal implicating several Sabah assemblypersons will be filing an MACC report against the state governor's son-in-law, Arifin Arif.
His lawyer, Mahajoth Singh, confirmed with Malaysiakini that his client will be lodging the report with the anti-graft agency today over claims that the Membakut representative offered a settlement.
He also noted that MACC will resume questioning the whistleblower, known only as Albert, over his allegations regarding the Sabah corruption scandal.
Today’s questioning follows a marathon-like session yesterday, which began at around 10am and ended just after 7pm.
“I am unable to comment (on yesterday’s questioning) as the investigation is ongoing. No other evidence was submitted as there is ample evidence.
“My client will, however, as advised, be lodging an official complaint against Arifin (above) on the settlement offer,” the lawyer said.

Lawyer Mahajoth SinghThe MACC report set to be filed is understood to be linked to Albert’s previous police complaint alleging that Arifin had filed a false police report.
Alleged bid to silence whistleblower
On Feb 3, Malaysiakini reported on Albert’s claim that Arifin had offered him a settlement to silence him.
In response, the Membakut assemblyperson had vehemently denied the allegation, lodging a police report two days later claiming that he had been wrongly accused.
The whistleblower had then filed a police report against Arifin the next morning, asserting that the latter had lodged a false report.
Yesterday, Mahajoth slammed the police for supposedly failing to provide updates regarding Albert’s police report against Arifin, claiming that the authority has kept mum on the matter since the report was filed earlier this year.
ADSHe added that he had written to Attorney-General Dusuki Mokhtar on June 5 under Section 107A(5) of the Criminal Procedure Code pertaining to the public prosecutor's powers to direct the police to provide a detailed investigation status report.
However, nearly two weeks later, the lawyer said he has yet to receive a response on the matter.
Earlier in April, the lawyer’s efforts to write to Serdang Criminal Investigation Department (CID) chief Nazaruddin Abd Razak to obtain updates regarding the report were similarly unsuccessful. - Mkini
