PERHAPS it isn’t such a good idea to combine technology with religion.
Recently, a video had gone viral where several Indonesians could be seen donning a VR headset while being rocked around in a chair for special effects.
The content? According to netizen ian who posted the video, it was meeting the prophet, or at least, according to the imagination of the VR maker.
Some of the viewers could be seen crying, touched by the visual effects.
Sadly, however, quite a number of netizens were unimpressed, calling out the VR users as fools.
“At this stage, it is better to smell gum,” said Romeow while netizen S said he now understood why earthquakes happen in Indonesia, hinting that the VR might be unislamic.

Then there was wandoit who said that ever since Indonesia made friends with the Dutch, their people have become weird.
The roasting continued through Sabiq Queen, stating that Indonesia and foolishness do not separate.
“After this, make a VR about entering hell instead,” said zacky Khairudean TANGKAK, making a subtle shot.

Interestingly, a large number of the negative comments came from the Muslims.
Following up was Jai-yen who suggested that they do not need to go for the holy pilgrimage too as everything can be done through VR.

However, the VR idea was not without its supporters. According to Ris, it is a good thing to show the journey and struggles of the prophet for the Muslims.
“Soften your heart first before making any evaluation. It is a good thing yet you want to make it look stupid. You end up making yourself look stupid,” said Ris.

“Now we know our neighbour is living in the year 3025!” said m.r@yyanfm.
According to CNBC Indonesia, the VR users were crying as they were touched by the visual effects, voice and smell that reminded them of the atmosphere at Mekkah.
CNBC Indonesia added that the video which was uploaded on Instagram by @jogjaku has since been viewed 2.4 million times, receiving over 11,000 comments. — Focus Malaysia
