What Happened To Anti Graft Good Governance Pledge Muda Asks Harapan

Muar Muda has questioned Muar Pakatan Harapan regarding its stance on rejecting corruption and to always be guided by good governance.
It said this in response to the latter’s urging for Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman to vacate his Muar parliamentary seat.
In a statement today, Muar Muda information chief Amir Fiqri claimed that the people will punish Harapan for not fulfilling its promises to fight corruption.
“Where is the pre-GE15 promise of reform that is to be done? Now that you have openly normalised corruption with BN, continue this stance and see if the people will punish Pakatan Harapan for not fulfilling its promise to fight corruption.
“If we evaluate the current situation, the reforms are just rhetoric that Harapan used to gain support.
“If Harapan is honest with its reform promises, outdated laws would have already been changed, institutional reforms would have been underway.
“The government previously had a two-thirds majority and could have made the necessary amendments at any time,” he said.
On Thursday, Harapan Muar dared Syed Saddiq to recontest the Muar seat in Muda’s own capacity, claiming that he had only won it with the coalition’s support.

Dragging feet on reforms
Syed Saddiq recently quit the government bloc in protest of the withdrawal of 47 charges against Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi in the Yayasan Akalbudi corruption case.
The Anwar administration had come to power last November with 148 MPs on the government bench - just enough for a two-thirds majority that should, in theory, allow the government to amend the Federal Constitution.
However, due to the Muar MP’s exit, the government bench now only has 147 MPs.
Amir today reminded Harapan that Syed Saddiq was committed to supporting decisions made by the government, despite being in the opposition, if it was for the betterment of Malaysia.
“Muar Muda remains committed to carrying out the duties given by the people in the best possible way.
“The Muar Parliamentary Service Centre will continue to operate as usual for the people of the Muar. To Muar Harapan, the door of our office is always open to help regardless of social class,” he added. - Mkini
