Warisan Mocks Cm S Guts For Preaching Anti Graft While Mired In Scandal
“Cakap tak serupa bikin” (talk fails to match action) - This is Warisan information chief Azis Jamman’s blunt take on Sabah Chief Minister Hajiji Noor’s call for civil servants to steer clear of corruption and abuse of power.
He found it amusing that Hajiji confidently stated that “the current trend is that CCTV is everywhere; the people themselves have become the CCTV”.
“I must commend Hajiji (above) for his courage in advising on integrity to public servants,” he added in a statement this afternoon.
However, Azis stated that the people of Sabah have not forgotten Hajiji’s earlier remark, in which he suggested that the funds discussed in the videos implicating his assemblypersons could be political donations.
He added that the chief minister’s statement - "if elected representatives solely relied on their salaries, they wouldn’t even have enough to eat" - has become the subject of ridicule.

Warisan Information chief Azis JammanReferring to Hajiji’s speech at the New Year's Mandate Ceremony at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) yesterday, Azis asked if the chief minister is aware that the trust of the people is not built merely through speeches but through concrete actions.
“Transparency is not just a slogan uttered at official events; it must be proven through the courage to be open to any investigation and allegations,” he added.
Azis said if Hajiji is truly serious about combating corruption, the people want to know - what is the progress of the investigation into the report lodged by the former CEO of Sabah Mineral Management Sdn Bhd (SMM) Jontih Enggihon against him with MACC on Nov 20 last year?
“Has Hajiji been called in to provide a statement? What is the status of the investigation papers? Have they been referred to the deputy public prosecutor?” he asked.
Lead by example
Azis also noted that Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Azalina Othman Said stated in Parliament that MACC has opened two investigation papers which are under review by the deputy public prosecutor.
He asked if one of these investigation papers was related to the complaint against Hajiji as well.
“Even more puzzling, while the people demand transparency, Hajiji appears overly defensive in protecting those entangled in scandals. In fact, he remains silent when there is a video of a certain Yang Berhormat (YBs) that has not only gone viral in Sabah but also become an international sensation.
“If the chief minister is truly serious about eradicating corruption, he should lead by example - not merely deliver moral lectures to civil servants while shielding those with political interests.
“The people of Sabah are waiting for answers,” he added.

Former CEO of Sabah Mineral Management Sdn Bhd, Jontih EnggihonHajiji, in his speech yesterday, reminded civil servants of their duty to perform with full dedication -not just for their own and their families’ well-being, but also for the success of their organisation, the state, and the people.
“As civil servants, especially those in high office, you are like politicians who are constantly at the centre of attention. Moreover, the current trend is that CCTV cameras are everywhere, and sometimes, the rakyat themselves become the CCTV.
“So, you have to be careful in performing your duties and responsibilities. We live in an era dominated by advances in recording technology. Our every move and every word could be recorded without us realising it. This era of invasion of privacy is becoming rampant,” he added.
The chief minister, who also serves as the chairperson of SMM, has been accused of abusing his authority in the granting of mineral exploration licences.
SMM has alleged that its former CEO colluded with an external party to commit fraud.
Regarding the videos released by a whistleblower claiming to have bribed assemblypersons for mineral exploration licences, Hajiji dismissed them as an attempt to undermine his administration, accusing the whistleblower of collaborating with individuals with vested interests.
The whistleblower has also been accused of being part of a cartel aiming to monopolise mining activities in the state.
