PROBABLY in retaliation to a call by its secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali to gear up the party’s election machinery in anticipation of a snap election by end-2025, a Madani government backer has tweeted that Bersatu can soon assume the name of “Berpecah”.
In his post on X, Adam Yusuf (@adamyusuf88) has painted the picture of a looming crisis within the PAS ally in Perikatan Nasional (PN) with internal turmoil escalating between two factions – that of the party’s president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and its deputy president Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin.
Apparently, Azmin who is also the party’s newly minted secretary-general has sided with Muhyiddin who is also the PN coalition’s chairman while Opposition leader Hamzah is backed by the party’s former Youth chief Wan Ahmad Fayhshal Wan Ahmad Kamal who is now a supreme council member.
“Hamzah and Muhyiddin have severed ties. The situation has become increasingly tense when Wan Ahmad Fayhshal who is now acting as Hamzah’s right-hand man begins actively gathering support to end Muhyiddin’s influence,” claimed Adam Yusuf.
“At the same time, Azmin remains loyal to defending his boss Muhyiddin from internal attacks.
“Meanwhile, Peja (nickname for former party deputy president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu who is now the vice-president) has lost patience with all this drama.”

Delving further into the internal affairs of the UMNO splinter party, Adam Yusuf revealed that rumours are rife of several Bersatu MPs “contemplating to add support to the ruling government”.
“If true, the political scene will change again. The drama has just begun. Let’s see who will checkmate first.”

Recall that Azmin who is also the Selangor PN and Bersatu chairman had on Feb 7 cited Muhyiddin urging all party members to get ready for election campaigning in anticipation for a snap general election this year-end.
The Selangor state Opposition leader and Hulu Kelang state assemblyman further alluded to the special discussion among the top Bersatu and PAS leadership on Feb 5 attended by both Muhyiddin and PAS president Tan Sri Hadi Awang. – Focus Malaysia
