Wan Saiful Questions Macc S Silence On Kl Tower Cronyism Claims

Bersatu supreme council member Wan Saiful Wan Jan has questioned the MACC’s apparent inaction against claims of cronyism in the takeover of Kuala Lumpur Tower.
Highlighting that the claims were raised last month by Gerik MP Fathul Huzir Ayob, Wan Saiful claimed that the government also appeared to be “avoiding” addressing the issue in the Dewan Rakyat.
“Based on experience, I know that the MACC can direct its officers to file a report to initiate an investigation. Any information it needs regarding the disclosure (by Fathul) can, in fact, be obtained from open sources accessible to the public.
“Why has there been no action to this day? The MACC should not remain silent without any comment,” Wan Saiful pressed in a statement today.

Addressing a press conference in Parliament on Aug 27, Fathul cited company records and questioned whether LSH Service Master Sdn Bhd (LSHSM) was awarded the concession to manage KL Tower because of a political connection.
He claimed that the company’s documents show that one director uses the same address as a senior government leader.
Gerik MP Fathul Huzir AyobWhile he did not name anyone, it is believed that he is referring to a director at LSH Best Builders Sdn Bhd - a company that owns 70 percent of LSHSM - who is believed to be the daughter of a senior minister from East Malaysia.
LSHSM - a joint venture with Service Master (M) Sdn Bhd - was awarded the concession to manage the KL Tower in May last year after the government opened a request for proposal.
It replaced Menara Kuala Lumpur Sdn Bhd (MKLSB), which was taken over by Hydroshoppe Sdn Bhd in late 2022. Hydroshoppe and MKLSB are suing the government.
Fathul warned that if the companies’ case results in the court siding against the government, the money will have to be forked out from taxpayers at a time when the nation’s economy is “under strain”. - Mkini
