Warisan Leader Pans Macc S 60 Days Of Silence On Second Sabah Shockwave
Warisan has been keeping count since the second shockwave of the Sabah mining scandal erupted, ensnaring six senior leaders from Star and PBS, which are key components of the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) state government.
Warisan supreme council member Ahmad Hassan noted that today marks the 60th day of “silence” from the MACC over the explosive revelation.
“The people of Sabah want to know the outcome of the MACC investigation into this case. How many witnesses have been called to give their statements?” he asked in a statement
“Has the investigation paper been completed and referred to the Attorney-General’s Chambers? How many suspects involved will be charged in court? The MACC has never issued any statement on the progress of this investigation.
ADS“This case also concerns the interests of the state and the people of Sabah. Mineral resources in Sabah do not belong to the political leaders in the GRS government,” he added.
Ahmad urged the MACC to conduct its probe into the second group of six leaders efficiently, transparently, and without fear or favour.

He also pressed the commission for a full public briefing on the investigation process and the follow-up actions without further delay.
Previously, Warisan’s Elopura assemblyperson Calvin Chong had urged the six to file police reports or initiate legal action if the allegations were false.
‘Close to RM4 million in bribes’
On June 28, Malaysiakini reported that six more Sabah politicians have been implicated in the scandal after businessperson Albert Tei’s earlier disclosure of eight others.
The six were Star president and Deputy Chief Minister I Jeffrey Kitingan, his two deputies, Ellron Alfred Angin (who is also Sabah youth and sports minister) and Robert Tawik (who also serves as state assistant works minister), acting PBS president and Deputy Chief Minister II Joachim Gunsalam, his predecessor Maximus Ongkili, and the party’s deputy president Jahid Jahim, who is also Sabah’s rural development minister.
A source had claimed that the total amount of bribes allegedly involved “for the six individuals” is close to RM4 million.
The source had furnished Malaysiakini with screenshots purportedly taken from video recordings involving the implicated leaders. Malaysiakini was also shown brief excerpts of the recordings but was not allowed to reproduce them.

Following the report, Kitingan had denied receiving RM1.78 million in bribes and described the allegation as a “politically motivated attack designed to destabilise, demonise, and demolish” the Sabah government.
The Star president had also warned legal action against what was termed “irresponsible and damaging reporting”. Similarly, Gunsalam and his deputy also denied the allegation.
MACC has yet to comment on the matter. - Mkini
