Wan Fayhsal Repeats Call For Debate With Rafizi Fahmi On Mahb Share Sale
Bersatu MP Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal has once again thrown down the gauntlet, challenging Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli and Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil to a debate on the sale of Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) shares.
Noting that neither ministers have responded to his request since August last year, Wan Fayhsal (above, left) said the discussion should also involve the controversial sale of the Employees Provident Fund’s shares in MAHB.
Referring to criticism from Pakatan Harapan Youth information chief Ammar Atan, Wan Fayhsal dismissed the Amanah Youth vice-chief as an unworthy opponent to tackle the issue.
“I have challenged Rafizi and Fahmi to a debate, but have yet to receive a response until today.
“My advice to Harapan Youth is to not poke the hornet’s nest (as) you are not yet on a level to argue with us on this issue involving EPF and MAHB.
“You’ve been spreading slander, and I challenge you to sue me and Wee Ka Siong on this matter immediately, as you said in a recent media statement,” the opposition lawmaker said during a press conference in Parliament today.
For the record, MPs cannot be sued for remarks made inside Parliament.
The Machang MP previously said an opportunity to debate the issue on a neutral platform would also allow him a chance to address queries over his recent six-month suspension from Dewan Rakyat proceedings.
“Don’t try to move the goal post. The rakyat want to hear a debate on the sale of MAHB shares to a pro-Zionist company. The truth behind my suspension will be revealed,” Wan Fayhsal said in a Facebook post last August.
He lamented today that all parties involved in the share sale deal have yet to address the concerns raised, saying: “Until today, EPF, Khazanah Nasional Berhad and those who sold MAHB’s shares cannot answer questions on this issue.
“Harapan Youth and Amanah, if you truly want to resolve (the issue) and defend the government, you should defend your (Amanah) president (Agriculture and Food Security Minister Mohamad Sabu) who failed to manage the local rice issue,” he added. - Mkini
