Viral Video Sparks Debate On Muslim Staff Handling Alcohol At Work

RELIGION can be a huge part of our life, defining and redefining the way we behave, and most importantly, informing us of what is right and wrong.
But when religion and job responsibilities were to collide, things can get messy. Recently, a netizen went viral on the cyberspace for making a video on his TikTok platform, criticising a fellow Muslim for handling beer cans with her bare hands.

Apparently it wasn’t just enough that Muslims do not drink alcohol. They weren’t supposed to touch it either. The video on his TikTok handle @abangupinipin showed a shawl-wearing lady kneeling down at the front of a refrigerator. She could be seen placing the beer cans into the fridge.
Undoubtedly, the invisible angel sitting on her shoulder is busy taking notes on her behaviour but the video camera was not advanced enough to capture the elusive being. 
Our fellow netizens have much to say about it too. According to one netizen, it was more than just drinking and touching alcohol. Muslims should not be working in such shops that sell alcohol too.

Another questioned the motive of @abangupinipin for making the video in the first place. “Just tell her directly,” he said to which @abangupinipin responded that if he were to speak directly to her, the public would not know about this issue.

However, netizen seconddouble claimed that during the job interview, the interviewee had already been made aware of it. Even if this was so, is it proper for companies to make their muslim staff handle alcohol in such a manner? Or should they provide metal tongs and gloves? “If not us, who would top up?” said a cynical netizen.

 
Then there was Man, who gave the thumbs up to @abangupinipin for bringing the issue to light. He believed the video should serve as a wake up call to open the eyes of our leaders.
