Netizens Outraged By Viral Video Showing A Mother Abandoning Her Child By The Roadside

GROWING up, we may have heard our parents talking about the harsh punishments they received from their teachers or even their parents.
Listening to these stories, we may think that mom and dad had grown up in a harsh and unforgiving landscape. Are the younger generation nowadays taking life a little too easily?
Perhaps the same cannot be said for a poor child who was recently abandoned by his mother in a viral video posted by netizen @update11111.
The short clip shows a mother standing beside her car, having parked it at the side of an elementary school. Suddenly she closes the door, likely after spotting her child, then went into the car.
The child could be seen trying to open the door but she immediately drove away, making him chase after the vehicle.
The brief video provided little detail regarding the scene but likely, the child must have been late or something, hence the treatment. Readers can find the video at: https://x.com/update11111/status/1958429598208885161
Our fellow netizens, however, did not find the punishment amusing. Many were quick to point out the danger presented to the child since the road was filled with traffic.
“If you want to punish or scold your child, punish them in the car or at home, stupid,” said netizen @BiqMan92 while @jonodepth said it was possible for people to make a police report.

“Even from the start it can be seen that she was stupid, parking at the zebra crossing,” said a sharp-eyed netizen.
Also, @iqmarhalim remarked that if the child got rammed by a passing vehicle, she would cry and scream the loudest later. Then there was a hard-hitting @hakimmohammad_ stating that even a cat knows how to love her young.

However, netizen @taufiq_maarof said this may not be the real story after all. “Maybe the child identified the wrong car. The mother opened the door and a child already entered it,” he claimed.
Even after several rewinds, we are unable to find said child within the video who entered the car so perhaps @taufiq_maarof may have made a mistake.
All in all, there is a time and place to discipline one’s child. We would like to remind every parent that a roadside filled with fast moving vehicles is not one of it, even if you are in a state of anger. —Mkini
