Utusan End Of A Malay Pride
MY heart goes out to Utusan workers who had struggled to revive Malaysian oldest newspaper from folding down, bracing a no-salary period for a few months and having to 'beg' some monies to make ends meet.
Sad to say that the Malays in Pakatan Harapan government seem to enjoy watching the tears running down the cheek of the affected workers, some of whom have served the newspaper for more than 20 years. It makes me angry, really angry!
Come Wednesday which will see the demise of Utusan, the only Malay mainstream mouthpiece championing the cause of the Malays and Islam since the late 1930s. We dont have any, and there is no chance of another Malay mainstream newspaper can emerge under this regime which are full of bastards and communist minds.
Utusan used to be the strongest supporter of Dr Mahathir when he was the fourth prime minister, carrying his balls all over. When he left Umno and formed the opposition pact then, Utusan continued its role as Umno and the Malays/Islam mouthpiece, sometimes critically bashing the premier and his colleagues in DAP, PKR and Amanah.
After Barisan Nasional lost the GE14 battle in May last year, the Selangor state government was fast in venting its vengeance by banning all agencies from subscribing the paper, leading to heavy losses incurred by the company.
Putrajaya did nothing. More saddening is when a few leading journalists also join the bandwagon to destroy Utusan just because they have switched camp. Not worth to mention names but they have lost their Malay essence.
The Internet is another reason as to why Utusan has to close shop. Some smaller newspaper publications have also closed down due to declining circulation, no advertisement and lesser readership as more people are turning to news portals and online news.
Can't solely blame the Internet but the manner in which the government react to the Utusan saga is beyond comprehension. Perhaps there should be effort to retain its online services.
Umno was blamed for its failure to salvage Utusan. Although it understands the whole situation, Putrajaya used MTUC and NUJ to attack Umno when the party is no longer a major equity holder of Utusan since February.
So, all cross-blaming games continue. Since Dr M's Cabinet is dictated by DAP, they want to see each and every Malay entity take a tumble. After Tabung Haji, Felda, Felcra, Khazanah and other major assets are made 'non-Malays', Utusan becomes a victim of a regime full of hatred and despise towards Umno and the Malays.
No cash injection, no mercy for Utusan. It will be left to rot, and so are families of the affected workers. The Malays are not only losing their pride in Utusan but are losing their dignity to their own race!
