Two Killed In Separate Early Morning Incidents In Sabah
Fire in Bongawan.
KOTA KINABALU: Two men were killed in separate incidents in Sabah during the wee hours of Monday (Sept 27).
Abdul Rahman Abu, 38, was killed in a fire in Bongawan while Tan Khin Hoe, 35, died following an accident in Lahad Datu.
State Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Misran Bisara said in the Bongawan fire, Abdul Rahman’s charred remains were found inside a bathroom in the burnt down house.
“The station received a call at 3.26am about this fire at Kg Nyaris-Nyaris and two teams comprising firemen from the Kimanis and Beaufort fire station were dispatched to the scene,” he said in a statement.
Upon arrival, the house was already almost fully razed, he said.
Misran said Abdul Rahman’s body was discovered after firemen managed to put out the flames.
Accident in Lahad Datu.
Meanwhile in Lahad Datu, the team was alerted to an accident along Jalan Silam Taman Maju where a victim had succumbed to his injuries following and accident.
Tan was behind the wheels of a four-wheel-drive vehicle when he was believed to have lost control and crashed into a road divider just past 4am.
Misran said an emergency call was received at 4.53am and a team of rescuers was rushed to the scene.
“Medical personnel pronounced the victim dead at the scene,” he said.
Both cases have been handed over to the police for further investigations.
No other injuries or casualties were reported in both incidents. - Star
