Those Who Defy Ruler Will Be Impaled Ti Tells Puad
A war of words has erupted between an Umno leader and an MCA leader over the future of the latter’s party in BN, with the spat touching on a royal addendum order related to former premier Najib Abdul Razak’s house arrest.
In a Facebook post, former MCA vice-president Ti Lian Ker targeted Umno supreme council member Puad Zarkashi with historical repercussions of non-compliance with the order, which could see Najib freed from prison.
“If this had happened in the past, a refusal by administrators to comply with the ruler’s decree would have been an act of treason punishable by impalement.
“Remember this classic Malay phrase, Puad: ‘Barangsiapa durhaka, nescaya disula,’ (Those who defy the ruler will be impaled) so it serves as a lesson to all subjects,” Ti said today.
The former deputy unity minister made the remark while reminding Umno to focus on defending Najib, who is serving a prison sentence for corruption.
‘Scheming Ti’, ‘hasty Puad’
Earlier, Puad had criticised Ti for describing BN as an “empty shell waiting to be cracked”.
The Johor Umno leader accused Ti of being a schemer and “political instigator,” claiming that the latter still harboured ambitions to contest in the next general election.

Umno supreme council member Puad Zarkashi“His chances are shut tight if BN cooperates with DAP. Moreover, his chances of winning are brighter if he gets solid votes from PAS.
“Compared to Gerakan, Ti believes PAS will choose MCA, which is far more structured. PAS is willing to sideline Gerakan,” Puad said.
In response, Ti labelled Puad as someone fond of making “hasty generalisations.”
“Maybe he doesn’t understand, maybe he’s doing it on purpose,” Ti retorted.
Rejecting ‘Umdap’
Ti explained that his “empty shell waiting to be cracked” remark was in fact a rejection of any possible Umno-DAP alliance – which he dubbed “Umdap” – rather than BN itself.
“This would also mean the end of BN when Umdap becomes BN’s replacement.
“Perhaps Puad wants to see BN buried and replaced with Umdap?” he asked.
Ti also defended himself against Puad’s jibe that he still has big political ambitions.
“I’m a political worker, not a political player like you, Puad!” he said. - Mkini
