Take Action Against Provocateurs Anwar Tells Authorities

The prime minister says there are those who are looking to stir up chaos by riding on several recent controversies.

Referring to controversies sparked by the hoisting of the national flag upside down and the death of Form 1 student Zara Qairina Mahathir, Anwar said there will be no more warnings or reprimands.
He said action needed to be taken to prevent the country from descending into chaos.
“There are some who are looking to raise temperatures by riding on Zara’s death and the controversy over the Jalur Gemilang.
“Which is why I have instructed the authorities (to take action) irrespective of whether they (provocateurs) are prominent figures, politicians or the general public. There will be no more warnings after this,” he said at an event here this afternoon.
Anwar’s comments follow police reports lodged against Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh for his threat to gather in front of a hardware shop in Kepala Batas, Penang, after its owner was investigated for flying the Jalur Gemilang upside down.
After about 200 Umno Youth members gathered near the shop yesterday, DAP secretary-general Loke Siew Fook said he had directed his party’s youth wings to file reports throughout the country against the Umno leader.
Earlier today, Akmal revealed that he had been summoned by police to provide his statement at the Dang Wangi police station tonight.
“If this is the price I have to pay to defend the country’s dignity, I am willing and will fight to the end,” he said in a Facebook post.
Separately, rumours had been spread regarding Zara’s death, including linking the tragedy to high-profile individuals. Zara’s mother, Noraidah Lamat, has since dismissed such claims as baseless and untrue.
The 13-year old was found unconscious at 4am on July 16 after allegedly falling from the third floor of her hostel. She died at the Queen Elizabeth I Hospital in Kota Kinabalu the next day. - FMT
