Third Fatal Tiger Mauling Reported In Gua Musang This Month
Officials on the scene following the mauling of an Indonesian worker in Kampung Kuala Tol. - Pic courtesy of police.GUA MUSANG: Another man was mauled by a tiger in Kampung Kuala Tol here, bringing the death toll to three in the district this month.
The latest victim was an Indonesian worker. The police discovered his remains 200m from his motorcycle.
District police chief Superintendent Sik Choon Foo said they received a report on the incident about 1.30pm today.
"The report was filed by a man who claimed that his worker, an Indonesian male, was attacked by a tiger.
"Following the report, a search and rescue operation involving the police and the wildlife ranger was mounted to locate the worker.
"After an hour, the team discovered the man's body about 200m from the place where his motorcycle was abandoned.
"The body which was in an incomplete state was found near the hill slope. The remains were then sent to Gua Musang hospital," he said in a statement tonight.
Sik said the state Wildlife Department had set up a trap and camera to trace the tiger.
"Police have classified the case as sudden death," he added.
On Nov 10, a 42-year-old Indonesian national, known as Lalu Sukarya Yahya, also a rubber tapper, died after he was mauled to death by a tiger at Kuala Wok near Pos Pasik here.
His body was found by a villager in the forest reserve.
On Nov 11, a 22-year-old Myanmar national was mauled by a tiger at a rubber smallholding in Meranto here.
The victim was tapping rubber with his wife when he was attacked by the tiger. - NST
