The Post Ge15 Unity Government Will Not Last Five Years
Whatever it may be, and whichever scenario may be fact, and which one may be fiction, it appears that the government post-GE15 is not going to be stable and may not last the full five years. Even before an electoral pact or coalition can be formed, there is already so much distrust, animosity and egotism, not a good foundation for a long and happy marriage.
NO HOLDS BARRED
Raja Petra Kamarudin
What appears to be the current scenario is:
No party, coalition or grouping is going to win a two-thirds majority in Parliament like in the old days before the 2008 general election. Bersih (the first one in 2007, not Anwar Ibrahim’s 2011 Bersih 2.0) and Hindraf basically changed Malaysia’s voting trend. Today, a simple majority is all we can expect.
Until today, the key political parties have not agreed on who is going to sleep with whom and who shall play the role of husband and who shall play the role of wife. PAS is hoping to have an orgy with both Umno and Bersatu in bed at the same time. Bersatu, on the other hand, also wants an affair on the side with Pakatan Harapan or Pejuang. Umno, however, wants to do the screwing, but they feel they have been screwed instead.
Umno is confident it needs no partners, as it not only can win GE15, but will be able to win big on its own as Barisan Nasional. Umno also feels that PAS, Bersatu and Pakatan Harapan are opposed to a snap GE15 in November 2022 and wants it to be held in mid-2023 instead because they know that they are going to lose the election and that BN is going to win hands down.
Some believe the opposition is pretending it is scared that Umno-BN will win GE15 if it is held now to lull Umno into over-confidence so that they make mistakes, like they did in GE14 in May 2018. Bersatu believes Barisan Nasional will win only about 80-90 seats with only about 50 seats or so going to Umno.
Some (the conspiration theory fans) also believe that the ‘Deep State’ has taken control of the Malaysian government and that this ‘power behind the throne’ wants Umno-BN out for good — and that they will achieve this by rigging the general election to ensure that the GE14 scenario is repeated in GE15.
