The Hidden Skunk Agenda
I AM drawn to an article written by Tun Abdul Hamid Mohamad in Utusan Malaysia today, 'PRU15: Siapa Patut Memimpin Umno?' (GE15: Who Should Lead Umno?) and concluded that it was still very premature to chart the party's path in three or four years from now and pitting some of its leaders.
Yes, pitting party president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi against Mohamad Hasan, Ismail Sabri, Asyraf Wajdi and the rest of the leadership. The simple analysis has somehow raises a basic question: did the former Chief Justice write on his own or take cue from one or two top office bearers whom I know are against Zahid and former premier Najib Razak?
Again, Abdul Hamid is seen as doing a favor for them by echoing what some members had said - that Umno must detach itself from Najib and it is time for Zahid to stop thinking of assuming his duty and quit instead.
Interesting read but as a senior judge, Abdul Hamid is making himself being used as a tool of political scheme by a few people. It could be Asyraf, it could be Tok Mat, it could be Ismail Sabri and it could be a demeaning idea of some leaders.
Nope, I dont think it was Tok Mat or Ismail Sabri although some say Tok Mat 'team' is already doing their job' at divisional level. But still, Tok Mat is moderate and took the task from Zahid in December under unavoidable circumstances plaguing the party.
It could be the job of 'selective writers' in Utusan itself. I only assume but whatever it is, this is not the right time for our greed and hunger for party position.
Umno's image is on the rise again after GE14 defeat which saw Barisan Nasional lost its power. Together with Pas, BN has chalked meaningful victories in Cameron Highlands, Semenyih and Rantau recently. It was Zahid who engineered the Umno-Pas cooperation and others just run the baton.
Not to forget Najib's 'popularity' which attributed to the victory, and the rising blase nationwide on Pakatan Harapan government. Nobody individuals should claim credit for the win, not even Tok Mat because other party leaders were there too.
Why must we rock the boat which is about to sail again? Unless Abdul Hamid, Utusan or some quarters in Umno already have a golden chess set to play with.
It's unbecoming of a former Chief Justice being turned into a Trojan horse by such groups who want to see the party crack further. Its like adding salt to the wound. Those power-crazy leaders are everywhere, some are believed to be on the take to meet their personal agenda.
Oh... as a judge himself, he makes himself losing his credibility by saying Zahid must relinquish his post over the court cases. In simple words, he is already slap Zahid with a guilty sentence when the actual trial has yet to begin. He may join the masses in making prophecy about Najib and other cases too!
Didn't he understand what a 'selective prosecution' is?
Of course he is free to opine and arrange his chess set but again, how sure is he that the Castle and the Queen can bring down the King? And again, I would like to ask the people behind his lengthy article: are they in Umno itself or from Utusan?
If they are from Umno, it do chime - that they really have political agenda and don't care if the party break apart. The article is a bit mean in asking Zahid 'not to come back to office'. My question is, their own office too is in a mess.
So, stop the crap! Stop playing kingmaker but focus on how to steer the party to a better direction. Talk about direction, what and how did they contribute to attain this?
