The Day Gaza Was Left To Die

As the world prepares for Aidilfitri with joy and celebration, Gaza is drowning in sorrow. In a single day, over 400 innocent lives were lost to relentless airstrikes—one of the deadliest assaults in recent history.
The cries of the wounded, the wails of grieving mothers, and the devastation of entire families buried beneath rubble paint a grim picture of suffering. How much more blood must be shed before the world acts?
The latest assault shattered a fragile ceasefire that had provided Gaza’s 2.3 million people with a fleeting respite. Peace talks collapsed, and with them, the illusion that diplomacy alone could end the violence.
Airstrikes pounded homes, refugee camps, and entire neighbourhoods from north to south. Eyewitnesses spoke of tanks firing at civilians, jets circling like vultures, bodies piling up faster than they could be buried.
Gaza is not a war zone—it is an open-air prison where entire generations are sentenced to death.
War without end
For decades, Palestinians have endured an unbroken cycle of violence—ceasefires that offer false hope, followed by yet another wave of destruction.
This is not about defence or security. This is annihilation.
Each time the world’s attention shifts elsewhere, Israel intensifies its campaign—seizing more land, tightening the blockade, and reducing Gaza to ruins.
Palestinian children weep after Israeli airstrikes at a school kill one of their ownEntire families are wiped out. Streets overflow with the wounded. Humanitarian aid remains blocked. This is not a war between two equal sides—it is an occupation, a slow and systematic erasure of an entire people.
Selective outrage, global hypocrisy
The world’s response is painfully predictable. When war affects powerful nations, immediate action follows—sanctions, military support, and diplomatic interventions.
But when over 400 Palestinians are massacred in a single day, the reaction is muted, the condemnation weak, the excuses plenty.
Where is the outrage? Where are the calls for accountability?
The truth is clear—Israel enjoys unconditional support from powerful allies who enable its actions. Western nations supply the bombs, fund the military, and shield Israel from accountability.
Every missile that flattens a home, every bullet that pierces a child’s body, carries the fingerprints of those who claim to uphold human rights.
Palestinians stand alone. No army. No advanced weaponry. No powerful backers. Only their resilience and the will to survive.
Crime against humanity
This is not just another conflict—it is a war crime.
An Israeli airstrikeBombing civilians, destroying homes, and blockading essential supplies violate international law, the Geneva Conventions, and multiple United Nations resolutions.
Yet, Israel continues its attacks without consequence.
How many more massacres must take place before words turn into action? If justice is truly blind, then where is the United Nations? Where is the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC)? Where are the self-proclaimed defenders of human rights?
The ultimate injustice
In just a few days, as fireworks light up the skies in cities across the world, the only lights in Gaza come from burning buildings.
As families gather for festive meals, Palestinians dig through rubble in search of loved ones.
The contrast is unbearable—one side of the world celebrates, while the other mourns.
Aidilfitri is meant to be a time of peace, yet for Gaza, it is a reminder that even in the holiest of months, their suffering does not pause.
Muslim world’s responsibility
Palestine is not just another battleground—it is the heart of Islamic history, home to Baitul Maqdis, the third holiest site in Islam.
Food crisis in PalestineIf Mecca or Madinah were under attack, would the Muslim world remain silent? Then why should Gaza be any different?
Muslim nations must move beyond empty statements. This is the moment for action.
Diplomatic ties with Israel must be severed. Economic collaboration with those funding its military must end. Sanctions must be enforced, and immediate humanitarian aid must reach Gaza.
This is not just about Palestine—it is about the moral responsibility of every nation that claims to stand for justice.
Malaysia’s unwavering commitment
Malaysia has always stood on the right side of history, offering not just words, but action. While others hesitate, Malaysia leads humanitarian efforts, rallies global awareness, and refuses to be complicit in oppression.
This is the true spirit of our nation—one that values humanity over politics, justice over silence.
For those who believe their voices do not matter, remember this: Silence is complicity. Inaction is acceptance.
Every voice raised for justice makes a difference.
Gaza is bleeding. Will you look away?
The killing of over 400 people in a single day is not just another statistic—it is the latest chapter in a genocide that the world refuses to name.
The world must choose. Will it continue to turn a blind eye? Or will it finally stand up for those who have been silenced for too long? - Mkini
