Terengganu Pas Staff Given Written Warning Over Flag Mistake

Terengganu PAS has issued a written warning to a member of its staff responsible for the defective Jalur Gemilang featured in the party’s promotional logo for the upcoming Himpunan Teguh Memimpin Terengganu 2025 event.
Its assistant secretary Hanafiah Mat confirmed the matter when contacted today.
“We have apologised for the unintentional mistake. Just like others, they merely apologised.
“A written warning has been issued (to the staff member),” he told Malaysiakini.
Hanafiah said this when asked whether Terengganu PAS was open to being investigated for the mistake or felt that an apology alone would suffice.
Late last week, Terengganu PAS courted controversy when it released posters promoting the rally slated to take place in Kemaman from May 29 to 31.
The event's logo featured the Jalur Gemilang on the left, the PAS logo in the centre, and the Terengganu flag on the right.
However, the logo drew criticism online as it depicted a yellow star with 11 points and 12 red and white stripes - differing from the actual Jalur Gemilang, which has 14 points and 14 stripes, symbolising the 13 states and the Federal Territories.
Terengganu PAS subsequently issued a public apology over the mistake and produced a new version of the logo with the correct flag.
30,000 participants expected
The incident is the latest in a series of mistakes involving the Jalur Gemilang, which has affected Sin Chew Daily, an electronic billboard in Bukit Bintang, an exhibitor at a baby products expo, and the Education Ministry.
The past incidents had drawn sharp criticism from various quarters, including from PAS’ own youth wing, which asserted that an apology is not enough and demanded stern action.
Hanafiah, who is also Chukai assemblyperson, expressed confidence that the controversy would not dampen the turnout at Himpunan Teguh Memimpin Terengganu.
“God willing, I’m targeting 30,000 attendees,” he said. - Mkini
