Terengganu Pas Rejects Pn Logo Prefers The Moon For Ge15
Terengganu PAS has opposed the use of a new Perikatan Nasional (PN) logo, arguing that its own party logo will be instrumental in bringing victory for the Islamic party in the next general election.
“Due to the differences between national and east coast politics, I would like to suggest that PAS uses its own logo in the next election,” said Terengganu state executive councillor Ariffin Deraman.
“This is not because the state leadership does not accept the PN logo,” he said, adding that the ‘moon logo’ of PAS may be more accepted in communities along the east coast.
While debating at the PN convention in Selangor today, Ariffin urged PN to conduct a survey on the public’s acceptance of the two logos.
“We call for a survey to be conducted in Kelantan, Kedah, and Terengganu on the acceptance of the logos among the communities, namely which logo will lead to a huge victory for PAS,” said the Alur Limbat state assemblyperson.
It was reported last month that PN proposed to adopt a common new logo and colour in the next election to avoid confusion with BN, whose logo is just a different shade of blue.
However, the proposal was not well received, particularly by leaders in Kelantan and Terengganu.
On July 22, PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang said PAS agreed in principle to use the new PN logo.
However, PAS spiritual adviser Hashim Jasin has backed calls for the party to return to using its moon logo in the next general election.
This, he said, was because the moon symbol is associated with being clean and thus can give the party’s candidates a better chance at winning. - Mkini
