Pas Non Muslim Supporters To Focus On Welfare Issues For Ge15
PAS MUKTAMAR | The PAS Non-Muslim Supporters Wing (DHPP) will focus on welfare issues in its effort to attract more support for the party in the upcoming 15th general election (GE15).
Its chief, Senator N Balasubramaniam, did not elaborate on the wing's plans, except to point out there have been no incidents of alleged racism in PAS-led states.
“We already understand that PAS carries the policy of Islam, being fair to all, and we take the examples in Kelantan. There are no issues of racism in Kelantan.
“So if PAS rules the country, I hope in Malaysia there will be no racism issues,” he said.
Balasubramaniam was speaking at a press conference during a DHPP gathering held in Sungai Petani, Kedah, today, ahead of the party’s central muktamar tomorrow.
PAS vice-president Nik Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah, who earlier officiated the wing's muktamar, also quipped that DHPP cannot reveal its entire strategy.
PAS Non-Muslim Supporters Wing chief, Senator N BalasubramaniamThe supporters’ wing, with its 62,768 members, is eyeing three parliamentary and 12 state seats in GE15, said Balasubramaniam.
He said the wing is preparing its candidates, subject to agreement by the party's central leaders.
“We have made a request to PAS central leaders for three Parliament seats and 12 state seats.
“We will focus and observe (the situation), and where deemed fit, we will proceed (to contest),” said Balasubramaniam who in GE14 contested in Bentong and lost to PKR's Wong Tack, as well as former MCA president Liow Tiong Lai as the then incumbent.
In GE14, the DHPP fielded candidates in three parliamentary and 18 state seats.
Balasubramaniam said the wing’s current request takes into account the past Johor and Malacca state elections. - Mkini
