Tajuddin Still Backs Muhyiddin Despite Eo Controversy

Pasir Salak MP Tajuddin Abdul Rahman said the announcement by the law minister on Monday on the revocation of the emergency ordinances was only referring to the decision made by the Cabinet.PETALING JAYA: Pasir Salak MP Tajuddin Abdul Rahman is still backing the Perikatan Nasional government led by Muhyiddin Yassin despite the controversy over the revocation of the emergency ordinances.
Speaking to FMT, Tajuddin said people should not be quick to accuse the government and prime minister of committing treason against the Yang di-Pertuan Agong over the matter.
He added that de facto law minister Takiyuddin Hassan’s announcement on the revocation in the Dewan Rakyat on Monday was only referring to the decision made by the government.
“The revocation of the ordinances must receive the consent of the King before it is announced to the public. We accept that reality.
“But the law minister only mentioned in Parliament that the ordinances had been revoked by the Cabinet. He did not mention that the revocation was completed, until the King consented.
“He was scheduled to explain the matter this coming Monday, but now that things are like this, I don’t know what will happen,” he said.
Following the controversy that arose, Umno vice-president and Deputy Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced in the evening that 40 Barisan Nasional MPs would continue backing the Muhyiddin-led government.
This was despite BN chairman and Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi urging all Umno MPs to withdraw support for Muhyiddin.
Later last night, the BN office claimed that Ismail’s statement was “fake and not issued through the proper channels”.
However, former BN secretary-general Annuar Musa reiterated that the statement was legitimate and that the 40 BN MPs would continue backing Muhyiddin’s administration. - FMT
