Suspect Nabbed 3 Hours After Trying To Rob 2 Chinese Nationals

Bernama quoted Iskandar Puteri police chief M Kumarasan as saying the incident happened at 11.30am when the 14-year-old and her grandmother, in her 70s, both Chinese nationals, were at home.
A man suddenly confronted them and demanded that they hand over their valuables.
The man was then involved in a scuffle with his victims but fled empty-handed.
“Both victims sustained injuries and were referred to the hospital for treatment,” Kumarasan said.
Acting on information received, a team from the Iskandar Puteri police headquarters’ criminal investigation department, together with officers from the Tanjung Kupang police station, arrested a suspect at around 2.30pm on the same day.
The suspect has two prior convictions for criminal offences. The initial urine screening test came back negative for drugs.
The suspect has been remanded for seven days for investigations and is being investigated under Section 394 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt when committing robbery, an offence punishable by up to 20 years’ imprisonment, a fine or whipping, if convicted. - FMT
