Stop Dreaming Of Toppling Unity Govt J Kom Tells Pas
PAS should stop dreaming of taking over the government, said Community Communications Department (J-kom) director Mohammad Agus Yusoff.
In a statement today, Agus said it would not be easy for the Islamist party to bring down the Anwar Ibrahim-led administration with the country now having its anti-hopping law.
Furthermore, according to the former political science professor, the unity government today has the support of a two-thirds majority in Parliament.
"Toppling the unity government? With the anti-hopping law, it would be hard for PAS to execute this plan, what more when the unity government already has a two-thirds majority in Parliament.
"Given this scenario, (PAS) should stop dreaming of bringing down this government," he said.
Agus' statement came in response to a recent remark by PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang, who predicted that Anwar's government will collapse soon.
J-kom director Mohammad Agus YusoffThe government communications officer, who was appointed by Anwar to the position last month, also lambasted Hadi for saying that it is normal to have a change of government.
Agus said changing government in a democracy is done through elections, after which every party should stop politicking and work together for the country.
"When the next election comes, then we give back the mandate to the rakyat to choose. How come he (Hadi) could not even understand this?" Agus said.
He urged the PAS president and his supporters to respect the Yang di-Pertuan Agong's wish to see stability in the country, and they should let the unity government do its job to serve the rakyat.
PAS should play the part of being a constructive opposition, Agus added. - Mkini
