Stick To Local Issues Sabah Group Urges Dap
Solidariti Rakyat Sabah says indigenous people are insulted by Mohd Akjan Ali’s claim that Suluks are ‘first class natives’ under the state constitution. (Bernama pic)KOTA KINABALU: Sabah DAP was criticised today for filing a complaint against former top cop Musa Hassan for linking the party with communism. They should have lodged a report against self-proclaimed Sulu sultan Mohd Akjan Ali instead, said Solidariti Rakyat Sabah (Sorak)
The group said a report against Akjan for his alleged ethnocentric views is more relevant to the state compared to such issues as communism and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE)
Sorak’s chairman, Jamain Sarudin, said that the communism and LTTE issues were “non-starters” in Sabah. Allegations linking DAP to communism were common in Peninsular Malaysia and had existed for more than five decades
“I urge Sabah DAP and its leaders, who are part of the state government, not to ignore the threats and insults against the indigenous people in the video recording by Akjan, which went viral
Sorak chairman Jamain Sarudin.“They should take this matter seriously as it concerns us and our homeland,” Jamain said here today
Yesterday, Sandakan MP Vivian Wong lodged a report against Musa, claiming he had made a slanderous statement by alleging that DAP wanted to revive communism in Malaysia
Opposition leader Jeffrey Kitingan had also criticised Akjan over his alleged claim that there were more than a million people in the state with Suluk, Bajau Ubian, Sibutu, Simunul and Kagayan parentage who were “first class natives” under the Sabah constitution
Jeffrey said Akjan was “clearly instigating his people” and had “insulted the indigenous communities in Sabah”
Jamain said the authorities should view Akjan’s statements seriously and take action against him
“Sabah DAP should focus their attention on the state instead of harping on issues that do not concern us. Stop dancing to the tune of your bosses in Peninsular Malaysia,” he said.- FMT
