Son Pleads For Witnesses After Ex Diplomat Dies In Accident
A police report has been made, but investigations cannot proceed due to a lack of witnesses.PETALING JAYA: The son of a former Turkish diplomat based in Malaysia is pleading for eyewitnesses to come forward after his father died in a road accident two weeks ago.
The former diplomat, Ali Engin Senyuva, 68, was riding his motorcycle on Persiaran Setia Impian in Setia Alam, Selangor, when he was hit from behind by a car some time between 4pm and 5pm on July 14. He died at the scene.
Ali’s son, Emre, said his parents came to Malaysia in 1994, when his father was posted to the Turkish embassy in Kuala Lumpur as the military attache.
“My father came as a diplomat and he loved this country so much that he decided to stay here,” Emre said. “I’ve been here since we arrived and am married to a Malaysian while my son is a Malaysian citizen,” he told FMT. His sister, who is completing her university studies, was born in Malaysia.

“He was planning to go back to Turkey once my sister had finished university so that he could truly enjoy his retirement,” said Emre, 36.
He said he received a text message on July 15, from someone he did not know, saying that there was an emergency involving his father. After calls to Ali failed to get through, he went to his father’s house where the neighbours told him of his father’s death.
He said the driver of the car involved had filed a police report but investigations could not proceed as they were waiting for more eyewitnesses to come forward and give their statement.
“What causes us even more pain is the fact that there are no eyewitnesses, CCTV cameras, or anything else to give the police or us a clear picture of what happened. I beg anyone who knows of this accident to please reach out to me so that we as the family can have some peace of mind,” Emre pleaded.
