Seremban Umno Denies Sending Notice To Ros
PETALING JAYA: Seremban Umno has denied that the division had sent a notice of objection to the Registrar of Society (ROS) over the motion of no-contest for the president and deputy president posts at the party’s general assembly recently.
Division chief Mustafa Salim said they had not issued any notice or report over the motion.
"We have unanimously supported the motion which was brought from the Negri Sembilan Rembau representative so that the two posts go uncontested.
"So this issue should not come up and I want to stress that the action by Muhammad Fiqri Firdaus Muhammad Rom was a personal decision, not one representing Seremban Umno," he told Sinar Harian on Saturday (Jan 21).
He added that the division had decided to respect the party’s decision, which garnered more than 90% support from the representatives.
However, he admitted that there were those who did not agree with the motion.
"But as a party member, we have to abide by the majority rule and not behave according to one's wishes.
"Muhammad Fiqri is only a normal party member who is involved in a lot of non-governmental organisations. He is also a staunch supporter of former Rembau MP Khairy Jamaluddin," he said.
Mustafa also said that he would discuss with the Seremban political bureau about taking action against Muhammad Fiqri, who should have put forward his dissatisfaction to the division instead of taking such an action.
Earlier, it was reported that two Umno members from Kuala Nerus and Seremban divisions claimed that the party had violated its constitution at the general assembly. - Star
