Selangor Putrajaya To Iron Out Az Vaccine Registration Without Consent
The Selangor and federal governments will cooperate to iron out the issue of people being registered for the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine without consent.
The Selangor government, through its Covid-19 vaccination outreach programme called Immunisel, had registered people who do not have internet access to get vaccinated.
While these people had consented to be included in the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme, the Selangor government conceded that it had also registered people for the AstraZeneca vaccine, which is under a different programme and required separate consent.
This is according to a joint statement issued by Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari and Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, who is also the coordinating minister for the federal government's Covid-19 vaccination efforts.
"Imunisel takes note about the need to get separate consent for the registration of AstraZeneca vaccine.
"Some individuals who have already received a non-AstraZeneca vaccine appointment saw it replaced with an AstraZeneca vaccine appointment due to Immunisel registering them for the AstraZeneca vaccine without their knowledge.
"To resolve this issue, Immunisel will provide the list of individuals who have been registered for the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) to seek their consent for the AstraZeneca vaccine," they said.

The joint statement added that for those who do not agree to the AstraZeneca vaccine, their old appointment will be restored.
It also noted that some of the registrations were made by family members or employers.
The statement added that a new feature will be added in the MySejahtera app to assist individuals whose appointments have been overwritten by the AstraZeneca vaccine voluntary programme.
"There is no issue of manipulation by Selangkah as recently claimed by certain quarters," it said.
Selangkah is the Selangor government's version of the MySejahtera app.
Khairy and Amirudin, in the statement, also agreed to improve cooperation.
They announced the setting up of several mega vaccination centres throughout Selangor, which will open in phases from the second week of June.
Both leaders had met yesterday. The meeting was also attended by the public health adviser to the prime minister, Dr Jemilah Mahmood, and Selangkah representatives. - Mkini
