Selangor Disputes Mosti S Vaccine Dose Data

The Selangor government has disputed data on vaccine doses provided by the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry (Mosti), which indicated that over two million doses have yet to be used in the state.
According to data provided by Mosti to the media, 2.9 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine had been delivered to Selangor as of May 30.
However, as of May 30, only 398,029 doses of the vaccine had been administered in Selangor according to the Special Committee On Covid-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV).
This implied that 2.5 million doses have yet to be administered in Selangor - the only state with an unused dose discrepancy of over five digits.
When contacted, a Selangor government official disputed the Mosti data. It is understood that a statement with more details will be published later.
It should be noted that the vaccination programme is being fully handled by the federal government and its agencies.


An analysis of the vaccination dose data from Mosti and JKJAV by health news portal CodeBlue, found that several states had administered more doses than was reportedly delivered to them.
For example, as of May 30, Kuala Lumpur was said to have received 215,280 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine, but has administered 405,549 - a more than 190,000 discrepancy.
Other states which have reportedly administered more doses than received include Sarawak (58,322 dose discrepancy), Pahang (22,893), and Perak (18,440).
Mosti minister Khairy Jamaluddin, who is also in charge of the Covid-19 vaccination programme, told the press on Monday that dose distribution is based on population coverage and registration numbers.
"(We are also) now shifting, pivoting and giving more vaccines to the states which are ground zero, in particular the Klang Valley," he was quoted as saying by CodeBlue.
Selangor has consistently reported four-digit Covid-19 cases daily - the highest number of cases in the country - amid a nationwide upsurge in infections. - Mkini
